NESP Reviews
by Hali Morag ISBN # 965494038-8 Reviewed by Alfta Svanni Lothursdottir There are not many books I would start off a review by saying they are a complete waste of time. But this is one of them. One of the things I always do first when getting a book on the runes is look for two things before I even read it. First I look to see if it includes the so-called “blank rune.” Second I look to see if the runes are given in there proper Futhark order. If I find a blank rune and the runes given in some other order than the Futhark order I can pretty much tell what the value of the book is going to be. Suffice it to say that I found a blank rune in Morag's book and the runes were not in the Futhark order. In fact I have no idea what order Morag used. The order most likely came from picking them at random. In the blurb for the book, they publishers make sure to point out that Morag “was born to a family of Hungarian origin...” as if this were some kind of credentials for being able to write a book on the runes. From what I can tell is that being of Hungarian origin does not entitle one to write a good book on the runes or one that is even simply bad. Don't waste your time or hard earned money on this one.
